I enjoyed the journey of Angela to open her mind and to obtain the strength to live with her true feelings even though she knows that she might have to deal with unjust humiliation by society. This story satisfies one with the very simple truth that you must love someone as they are. It is also a book that is quite successful in entertaining readers by describing a number of romantic dates that were thrilling and luscious. The author’s depiction of sex is sensitive and beautiful. I learned how to support your partner and how to nourish your love through Mark’s thoughts and behavior.Also Mark’s monologue in this story shows the grief of the people who are discriminated against very well. He wrote, “Damm, here I go again. Why is it in this country we, I have to go through this over and over again? Why do I have to be the one teaching instead of just enjoying, encouraging to make me look like a man? I know who and what I am, why can’t others see me as such? If you do all the right things, go to school, make good money, equal in appearance, have strong character, you still have to prove yourself worthy. Why am I not given the benefit of doubt?”
Mark is not a person with a victim mentality at all. He is a charming and proud man of a high moral standard.
This story convinces us that stereotypes about race are totally nonsensical. The review title, “do not let people tear you down or apart,” is cited in this book. I think this is best advice not only for interracial couples, but also for the people who love each other regardless of gender, creed, and nationality.

WoW, WoW and oh yeah, did I say WoWWWWW??? Well readers this is what I have to say about Lonz Cook's; A Choice To Yield or better known as ACTY.I have always been a reader and there is nothing in this crazy world better than picking up a book that you have a hard time putting down, with the exception of what happened to Angela in Chapter 5, I won't give it away, JUST READ!!! It has a unique view on interracial relationships and I am sure there are alot of people who can relate to this, myself being one of them.
I totally felt as though it was ME yearning and waiting to meet Mark for coffee and that brought a warm fuzzy feeling inside. Imagine a book doing that to you!
Lonz Cook has certainly written this to pull the reader into the characters lives.
Love knows NO colors and this was written so creatively that whom ever is reading it will have no choice but to admit that they are visualizing what exactly is being described in ACTY.
I will proudly say, "A Choice To Yield" is ABSOLUTELY worth the read and I vow to you, you are NOT going to want to put the book down. I am in process of reading Good Guys Finish Last as I started with ACTY so I MUST read GGFL ( "Good Guys Finish Last" ) BEFORE Lonz's new book "When Love Evolves" comes out on April 19th, as it is the sequel to GGFL. Keep it going my friend......LUV the books!!!!
This is the first novel of Mr. Cook's that I've had the pleasure of reading. I knew within the first couple of pages that I liked his writing style. It started out getting the reader's attention and holding it throughout his/her entire reading experience. One thing I really appreciated was the way he gradually introdued his characters. They were very life like and easy to identify with. He added them a couple at a time so as not to overwhelm the reader. He gave his readers a chance to get to know them individually...their personalities, their character traits, how they related to the other characters, and how they all contributed to the overall story until it evolved into a well-thought-out, well-written, totally enjoyable reading experience, which read fluently from start to finish.
Any relationship requires work, but A Choice to Yield vividly portrays how much more work and determination are involved in developing and then maitaining an interracial relationship. This book is an eye opener for me as I am involved in an interracial relationship. I was blessed to be able to read A Choice to Yield, thereby getting an idea of the barriers we may face as we meet each others' family and friends. A Choice to Yield has very life-like characters who the reader can identify with. Mr. Cook writes in such a way that the reader can actually put himself/herself in the characters' places and actually experience what they are experiencing.
God has given Mr. Cook a flare for writing, being able to attract and hold the reader's attention as well as getting a much-needed, different perspective on interracial relationships than what the majority of the general public has developed. Thank you, Lonz, for the thoroughly enjoyable, thought-provoking novel you have provided to your readers. The only suggestion I would make is that, if possible, you seriously consider writing a sequel in the near future!
